payroll update

Error Title:  QuickBooks is having trouble installing payroll tax table update ps077, ps034, or ps032.

Overview:

After getting QuickBooks payroll updates, when attempting to access federal forms, OR during a payroll update you may be the following error:

QuickBooks is having trouble installing payroll tax table update [ps077, ps034, or ps032].

Cause:

The QuickBooks company file MAY be damaged.

Detailed Instructions:

The error message should include an option to to online to complete the update.  If prompted, click YES to go online and retrieve the update.

Error ps032 may ONLY have the option to click OK to go online.  Clicking OK will run the download again and amy come back with the same error message.

If  your data file is on a server, close QuickBooks on all the computers.  Run the payroll update from the server.  If the update is successful on the server, when you open the file on the other computers, the payroll will be updated.

If going online to get the update does not work:

1.  Run a repair on QuickBooks –

Windows XP & 2000

  1. Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select the QuickBooks program, and then click Change/Remove.
  4. In the QuickBooks Installation window, click Next.
  5. In the QuickBooks Maintenance window, select Repair, click Next, and then click Repair.
  6. In the QuickBooks Maintenance Complete window, click Finish.

Windows Vista:

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Then choose, the Control Panel.
  3. In the Control Panel, double-click on Program and Features.
  4. In Program and Features, select QuickBooks.
  5. Once QuickBooks in selected, click Uninstall/Change.
  6. Choose Repair, then Next, then Repair, then Next.
  7. It may want you to restart your computer. Please do so.

2.  If the repair does not resolve the error then uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks.

1. Click on the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel

Windows Vista – select Programs and Features.

Select QuickBooks in the list of programs and click Uninstall.

Follow the instructions to uninstall QuickBooks.

Windows 2000 & XP – select Add/Remove Programs

In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Remove.

Follow the instructions to remove QuickBooks.

Note: If you are using QuickBooks 2007 or later, repeat the steps above to also uninstall the QuickBooks Product Listing service.

2. Manually remove the following QuickBooks installation folders:

Windows Vista

QuickBooks 2007 and later

  • C:\Program Data\Intuit
  • C:\Program Data\Common Files\Intuit
  • C:\Users\<current user>\App Data\Local\Intuit
  • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit
  • C:\Program Files\Intuit
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

Windows 2000/XP

QuickBooks 2007 and later (Pro, Premier, Enterprise)

  • C:\Program Files\Intuit
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Common Files\Intuit
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents (Shared Documents)\Intuit

Important: If other Intuit products are installed on your computer, you should only uninstall or rename the QuickBooks version folder found within the Intuit folders: C:\Program Data\Intuit (Windows Vista) or C:\Program Files\Intuit (Windows XP or 2000).

If the Application Data or Program Data folder is not visible:

Windows Vista:

1. Click the Start button and select Computer.
2. In the upper left, click the Organize button.
3. Select Folder and Search Options.
4. Click the View tab.
5. Click Show hidden files and folders.
6. Click OK.

Windows XP:

1. Right-click on the Start button and select Explore.
2. Select the Tools menu and then select Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab, and then under Advanced Settings, select the Show hidden files and folders checkbox.
4. Click OK.

After QuickBooks is completely removed from your system, you can proceed with a new installation.
